Initial Entry 26/07/09
I'm definately excited to get back out there for round two of prac. I am doing a community paediatric placement in Osborne Park with Sarah M. I'm looking forward to this placement because it naturally is specified to paeds and at this stage I am interested in doing paeds physio when I finish (though things may change after this placement!) I expect that the practice will be fairly relaxed and routine because there are a number of children that are having long term treatment so there won't be a forever changing clientele list. From what I gather group sessions with the kids are a large part of the treament strategy and it is based on the family centred practice module (which puts all my 313 theory to good use!) I had a quick squiz on the website and it appears the practice is focused on multidisciplinary rehabilitation where we'll be referring and communicating with other disciplines on a daily basis. As a student I think that I will be sitting in on sessions from all disciplines, assisting with the client's rehab where I can and relaying information to other disciplines about the physio priorities for the client and their family. I don't have any real concerns going into prac (as of yet) but I do hope that the prac is hands on and not primarily watching. I'm mostly excited about gaining more practical experience because it concretes all of the theory content.
